Business Spotlight: Pamela Gossiaux, Inspirational Speaker and Author

[capc ltr=”N”]OT ONLY CAN WE LEARN from small business owners, but we can be encouraged and inspired by them. According to the Small Business Association and US Census Bureau, small businesses make up over 90% of all US businesses. That’s why Chamira Studios wants to support the businesses with which we work directly by picking their brains in these candid interviews. We’ll be highlighting what they do, what they stand for, and the strategies they use. Take notes, folks!

Pam GossiauxPamela Gossiaux: Inspirational Speaker and Author

During her career as a professional author and motivational speaker, Pam has demonstrated extreme drive and tenacity in the writing and promotion of her two books Why Is There a Lemon in My Fruit Salad? How To Stay Sweet When Life Turns Sour and A Kid at Heart: Becoming a Child of My Heavenly Father. I had the pleasure of first meeting Pam several years ago while working for her publishing company to lay out her book. She’s truly an inspiration to all business professionals. Plus she’s just cool. Read on as I pick her brain!

1. What drives your passion as an author?A Kid at Heart: Becoming a Child of My Heavenly Father.

God is the inspiration for my writing. Even in my fiction, my faith comes in to play in my characters’ decisions and personalities. The main theme in my new book A Kid At Heart is how we can trust God as a child should be able to trust their parent – in ALL things. As a provider, as a comforter, as someone who has the answers. Because I’ve had so many trials in my own life, one question I always deal with is “How can we still trust God even when He lets bad things happen?” I believe there’s an answer to that question and I try to answer it from both a Biblical and a personal perspective in my book.

2. What are the main obstacles you have come up against with your latest book, and how have you overcome them?

My publisher told me I needed to get this second book out in six months to a year. I didn’t think that would be a problem since God had already given me a book title and chapter titles. But apparently God thought I still needed to learn some more things in the “trusting Him” process because life happened and it took me four years to get this second book out! We took in a foster teen (which I write about in the book) and dealt with some health problems and other challenges which caused me to put off the writing process.

3. What have you found to be the most rewarding about being an author?

Why Is There a Lemon in My Fruit Salad?

Meeting the readers of my books. I share some some very personal struggles in my books, and when I speak I always have people come up to me and share their own struggles in the same areas. People can relate and people are hurting. It’s good that we can pray together and there’s something powerful in knowing that someone else has “been there, done that, and survived.” I also hear some amazing stories of miracles and how God works in people’s lives, like He has worked in mine, and I come away from every author event filled with joy over how the Holy Spirit has worked. This whole thing is a God process – He is in charge. It’s a ministry and that allows me to hand the entire thing over to God and it’s fun to watch it unfold. If only I could do that in other areas of my life!

Many thanks to Pam for spending some time to chat! In addition to her books, she’s just come out with a new t-shirt based off the cover of her second book, A Kid At Heart. When she called me up and asked for help with the design, I was pumped! She was kind enough to mail me one, and I couldn’t help but put it on and take photos. They look quite nifty, if I do say so myself. If you’re interested in purchasing one, email her at [email protected].
